What is the course demonstration and should I take it?
The course demonstration is a five-minute example of what you would encounter while taking the course. Taking the demonstration will help you determine if you want to take the N.U. Driver Safety course, or if you would rather take an instructor-led classroom session. The demonstration is also helpful in confirming that the computer has the minimum requirements to successfully run the course.
What are the system requirements for the online course?
The online course does not support Google Chrome, tablets or cell phone platforms.
Yes. You can access the course on any type of computer that meets the minimum system requirements. Also, you may begin the course at one computer and continue the course at another. The database will track you as a User based on your Login ID, Password, and PIN Number.
Why does my system run so slowly when I use this course?
Different computers have different speed processors. Also, depending on your Internet Service Provider, you may be logged onto the Internet during a very busy time. Consider this like a highway - the more cars on the road, the slower your car will move. Try accessing the course at a different time of day, as that may help.
What is Macromedia Flash Player and why is it required?
When entering the Traffic Safety School website, there was an automatic system check to see if your computer has a product called Macromedia Flash player. If you did not already have this, you were asked to download it. Installing this software is easy and free. Without this software, you would not be able to view the course. If you are unable to download the software on your computer, you must find another computer source to complete the course. Please contact the Online course Helpdesk at (847) 467-5240 for additional support.

How long is the course and do I have to take the course all at once?
The course is approximately 4 hours long. You do not have to take it all at once. You can take portions of the course and return later. An electronic bookmark will be placed where you left off when you select the QUIT AND SAVE button. When you return you will automatically be directed to where you left off. However, please note that all modules must be taken in order and there is an assessment at the end of the course. The entire course and the post-assessment test must be completed by the course completion date indicated on your Traffic Safety School correspondence.
How can I check my progress while taking the course?
Modules you have completed will have a checkmark on the main menu of the course next to the module's title.
Is there a test at the end of this course and what is a passing score?
Yes, you will need to pass a 25-question post-assessment test at the end of the course. To pass the test you must receive a score of 71% (or 18 of 25 questions correct).
What if I answer less than 71% of the post-assessment test questions correctly?
You will have three chances to pass the course assessment. If you do not receive a passing score on your first and second attempts, we suggest you review the Course Summary (Section J) or sections of the course to improve your knowledge. If you still have not passed the post-assessment test after three attempts, you will be locked out of the N.U. Online Driver Safety course. You will then be required to contact the Student Services Department at (847)467-6820 for further options.
After passing the post-assessment test, how soon will I receive my course completion certificate?
Upon successful completion of the course, you can print out your certificate.
I need another copy or a replacement of my certificate of completion. What do I need to do?
